A founding member and volunteer trainer of the Mendes Educational and Self-Help Organisation of Africa (MESHOA) which focuses on the above-mentioned skills training offered to rural areas of Southern Africa.

Many interests provide the subjects to learn about and hobbies provide different ways of expressing his creativity.

An affinity for sketching with an interest in computers and electronics led to digital drawing, painting, graphic design and online marketing. Creating content and tutorials, or doing live streams as demonstrations of the possibilities of using open source software and old hardware to give old computers new life to aid in offering freelance services without having to invest heavily in fragile economies where the largest part of the community has no work.

The experience gained from live streaming relating to setting up broadcasting software and sound equipment, creating videos for platforms like YouTube required gaining editing and production skills as a nice supplement to Viri’s networking and server experience.

Digital drawing and painting led to learning about NFTs on blockchain and cryptocurrency as digital trading cards of his creations which can be given to live stream viewers who enter the viewer games running in the background. NFT and blockchain technology renewed an interest in web and game development. The challenge to integrate and link NFTs to in game armour and weapons from his own drawings started.

The curiosity of computers, systems analysis and design provided the base of various types of ever expanding frontend and backend experience in both creating apps and web design requiring databases and administration of other online services.

A Lover of nature and animals who is always trying to do his part to make sure that both survive the manimal.

Perma-culture and edible landscaping as part of eco friendly urban farming to grow fruit and vegetables in your garden in support of organic, healthy home grown alternatives to the fast foods many settle for too easily because of budgets and convenience.

Growing some of your own food need not be time consuming or expensive when planned in advance while you mimic nature and the variety of forests which never needed humans and fertilizers. Much of it can replace parts of a fitness plan which spares your pocket and helps keep you in shape.

Fruit Forests and edible landscapes are far from boring and many more plants which are used for decoration also happen to be edible and/or healthy.

Successfully getting cuttings and seeds to grow into new fully grown plants can be very rewarding.

With neurodivergent tastes and preferences, playing the proverbial mad scientist in the kitchen is a favourite pastime which also offers the opportunity of working on an eventual recipe book of his favourite recipes. Creating an interesting mixture of recipes with his Portuguese and Mozambican cultural heritage through his parents while growing up around South African cultures and foods which have been adapted for off grid living while working on community development projects in the wild.
